Celebs

When it comes to women and girls in the media today, a good amount of them use sex appeal in order to make good sales. A lot of people jump the gun and are quick to claim that these women are degrading themselves by being openly sexual for the public eye, MissRepresentation seems to agree on this standpoint.

However, I've also seen arguments that counter this statement. One could say that there's feminism in being free to express yourself sexually, and the former argument against this usually comes paired with a stigma against sex workers as well.

I don't really have a solid standpoint when it comes to this topic, because I've seen arguments that are very convincing on both sides. However I do believe that there is empowerment in being able to choose how one expresses themselves sexually, and this is applicable to both celebrities and the majority of women who aren't famous. I do, however, think that celebrities need to be a bit more careful about the messages they send out because they have public influence. Maybe it's unfair, but thats just how it is. Celebrities have an influence on how we think, dress, and act in our day to day lives, and thats just a responsibility they have to deal with as a famous individual.

Anyways here's what comes up when you search "female celebrities." It's basically the same for guys which shows that celebrities are easily objectified, which seems dangerous if younger kids discover how much the media cares about looks.
