Food Companies

As a result of studying the marketing techniques that companies use, I've found myself doubting everything commercials do. This is applicable to imagery, content, and especially diction. As an example, I've been seeing advertisements on TV that concern food. These advertisements come from companies like Subway, McDonalds, and even newer restaurants. All of these commercials, despite being independent from each other, preach the same points that make their food the best: fresher ingredients, good service, and somehow indisputably better than all of their other competitors.

Because these companies seem so similar, yet market different items, it made me wonder how different these companies actually are. Of course a Subway sandwich is more healthy than a McDouble, but in terms of mass produced ingredients, I'm not sure that these two are drastically different.
